Chain Monitor

One of our highly requested features has been for an interactive section to view current fees on each network. The Chain Monitor provides users a simple display for comparing transaction costs on any blockchain they add to Frame.

Each transaction cost on Ethereum, otherwise known as "Gas Fees" is measured in denominations of the Ether token, ETH. These small units of ETH are called "gwei" and are what Ethereum users pay to conduct transactions.

For a full explanation of how Gas is used in Ethereum, visit Gas and Fees.

Mainnet Monitor

When you open your wallet, this section will initially contain the "Recommended" gas cost on Ethereum Mainnet along with the average $ value for different types of transactions.

Clicking on the gwei value (in this case "53 gwei") will reveal the current Base Fee for transactions and the Priority Tip paid to miners to include a user's transactions.

The $ value for common transactions include:

  • Send ETH: sending ETH to other public addresses.
  • Send Tokens: sending ERC-20 tokens to other public addresses.
  • DEX Swap: buying and selling tokens on a DEX.

Comparing Costs

When you add new chains to Frame, the Chain Monitor will let you switch between each chain to view their recommended costs.

For example, if you wanted to compare the fees on Layer-2 networks, such as Arbitrum and Optimism, you can open up the two chains side by side.

Here we can see that swapping tokens on Arbitrum would be cheaper than swapping on Optimism.

Keep in mind that these values will change depending on the amount of people using Ethereum. Visit High Gas Fees to learn more.
